What is a license?

A license enables the lawful use of or access to a product or service. The license is governed by a contract and is therefore subject to corresponding conditions, such as duration of use or scope.

The license model of MAXQDA is device-based licensing. This in turn means that the license is not tied to a user via a user account, for example, but to a specific device. Depending on the license type, the license is a personal license despite being tied to a device, meaning that multiple people are not permitted to access the same device and license.

You can therefore see all the projects you have worked on within your application, because you gain access to MAXQDA by activating the license.

By default, your MAXQDA projects are saved locally in the “Documents” folder on your device. There you will find a folder called “MAXQDA 24”, which contains all your projects. Your project is not saved in your account.

You can also search for files with the extension “.mx24” on your hard disk to find your projects.
